HESPERIA, CA, FEBRUARY 6, 2013 – The TROPHYLITES tackled the Best In the Desert (BITD) Parker 425 race in Parker, Arizona Saturday February 2, 2013. With a strong stable of eleven TROPHYLITES the competition was fierce in this class. As the sun rose across the Arizona desert, TROPHYLITE teams were prepared to battle to the end focused on winning the $8,000 TROPHYLITE purse. The TROPHYLITE spec race class is cultivating the spirit of competitive off-road racing with a focus on a practical class model that is dedicated to the passion of racing. “We kicked off the 2013 season of TROPHYLITE racing with a bang,” said Rick L. Johnson, president, TROPHYLITE. “The teams are excited to begin the race season and new racing teams have formed for this season, bringing the competition level to a new high.”

The #6098 TROPHYLITE team of P.J. Jones and Troy Messer brought home the victory in this race. With a 1st place in class and an overall race time of 9:18:33. With an impressive 26 minute lead over the competition this team ran a strategic race touting their impressive performance to great pit stops, impeccable vehicle prep by Bear Race Cars of Kingman, AZ and a stellar focus on the win. P.J. Jones took the lead at mile marker 70, drove the truck a lap and a half then turned the truck over to Troy Messer, who took it to the finish line and achieved victory for the team.

TROPHYLITE team of Perry Coan and Jeff Proctor #6030 captivated the race course and finished 2nd in the class. This race was Perry Coan’s second race in a TROPHYLITE. Coan an accomplished off-road race car driver loved the essence of the TROPHYLITE class spirit, so he teamed up with motorcycle racer Jeff Procter to form a new team. The team purchased the #6030 truck just a week prior to the race. The #6030 truck is sister to the #6020 TROPHYLITE driven by Kevin Smith. We expect to see remarkable accomplishments from this dual truck team this season. Newcomer to the TROPHYLITE class with a well-known off-road industry family name Charlie Currie finished the race 3rd. Overcoming a variety of weekend challenges including a fuel system issue, a race truck roller-over and a pad failure this team didn’t stop until they hit the podium. Heart and drive is the essence of a good off-road race team and this team powered through the challenges and accomplished a podium finish.

The common theme of the podium teams were no flats during the race. The General Tire Grabber met the challenges of the Arizona desert and withstood the race course rugged terrain.
